Basic Popcorn Balls
Servings: 8 ball servings. What you need: Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 quarts freshly popped popcorn 1 cup sugar 1/3 cup corn syrup 1/3 cup water 1/4 cup butter 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla Ready, set, cook! 1. Preheat oven to 250. 2. Put popcorn in a large, 4 inch deep butered baking pan. Keep warm in the oven. 3. Combine sugar, corn syrup, water, butter and salt in a large saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Cook until mixture reaches 250 on a candy thermometer, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Quickly stir in vanilla. 4. Remove popcorn from oven. Pour syrup mixture over popcorn, stirring to mix well. 5. Butter your hands and Form into balls. Let Cool and Enjoy. |
