Avocados with Hot Bacon Sauce
Jan Last This recipe is from a cookbook called Foods Galore, published by the American Women's Association in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1984. Ingredients: 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup chili sauce 1/2 cup white vinegar 12 med. avocados, peeled & halved 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce 16 bacon slices, cooked and crumbled 1/2 cup butter or margarine lettuce leaves Directions: About 35 minutes before serving, in small saucepan over medium heat, heat 1/2 cup water and first 5 ingredients to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer 15 min., stirring occasionally. Arrange avocados on salad plates or on a large platter with lettuce leaves. Spoon on hot sauce and sprinkle with crumbled bacon or put sauce in chafing dish and set next to platter. Serves 24 as a first course. ~~ MySpace URL: http://www.myspace.com/duckie067 |
