Default Rye chops

Dick, I called Debra's today to see what they had ... and their distributor
just recently discontinued carrying rye chops and cracked rye for lack of
demand. They did have 10 and 25 lb bags at one time.

So I guess it's a 50 lb bag or employing the services of Hap Pea, Swee Pea
and a big honking knife.

If there are other folks in the Boston area who'd like to split a 50 lb bag
of rye chops three or four ways from Savage, I'd be interested. Cracked rye,
too.

Quite possibly Debra got the stuff from Savage. It is a while since I asked
about chops at Savage. Better call to see if they still have even 50 lb. bags.
If so, I could meet you there to split a sack. Better bring a 5 gallon food
pail (Ace has 'em, and lids). I have got to go there anyway because the
moths got into my last 50 lb sack of bread flour.

Once you get the chops, you can grind further for rye flour, as much as
you need at any time. The chops keep pretty well, but flour does not.

So far, I have not found rye berries locally, except at boutique prices.
Savage is a wholesaler, but does not seem to have whole grain.

Rye chops are probably a lot cheaper than you learned from Debra.
