I would have thought the French would have a great deal of respect for any
individual who takes cooking and baking seriously. Isn't that their national
"hobby"?

As for PR, we can see here, it only takes one 'disgruntled' person to post
to a newsgroup.

I'm not French and I don't play one on TV but I would think it's a
different culture with different ideas and that they might think that
anyone who takes it that seriously would be making a living from it.
