Default Quarry Tiles

Hi All,
I'm new to sourdough and I have a couple of questions about unglazed quarry tiles. I picked up a couple of 13" x 13" x 5/8" tiles for $2 apiece. Is there anything I need to do to prepare them for baking (besides washing them)? I understand that the loaves are to be placed directly on the tiles. What about when I'm baking in a pan? Does it go directly on the tiles too? Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

You don't have to do anything to prepare them for baking. If I am doing
freeform loaves I place them directly on the tiles; sometimes (usually but
not always) I have parchement paper under the loaves and I put the bread on
the paper directly on the tiles. If I have the tiles in the oven and I am
baking a pan loaf I put the pan directly on the tiles but I don't always
have the tiles in the oven when I am making a pan loaf -- depends whether I
remember to put them in or not. Just remember to preheat the oven with the
tiles in for long enough to really get the tiles hot -- at least 45 minutes,
probably an hour is better ...

Where in Atlanta did you find the tiles? sounds more conevenient to me then
shuffling all these 6 x6 tiles I have but I haven't seen the bigger ones.
