If people voluntarily add [AFS] or [afs] to their initial
posts (which will be included in all reply subject lines),
some news readers can filter out anything without such a tag.
(Not all newsreaders -- groups.google -- have filters.) And
that's only until the spam bots learn how to add such tags.
