Sushi (alt.food.sushi) For talking sushi. (Sashimi, wasabi, miso soup, and other elements of the sushi experience are valid topics.) Sushi is a broad topic; discussions range from preparation to methods of eating to favorite kinds to good restaurants. |

About 2 weeks ago I was en route to Italy with my wife and we stopped
over Amsterdam's Schipole airport for an hour before getting on our connecting flight to Milan. Before going through another terminal we passed by the duty free shops and deli's. Right in the middle of nowhere along the terminal was a sushi bar, man'd by two Japanese sushi chefs. Unfortunately I did not have time to get a closer look but was quite amazed and yet amused to see this, as it seemed out of place. Has anyone eaten there and can comment? |

Haven't eaten there, but having been in Amsterdam back in 1990, I can tell you it has a rich ethnic commuting. Of the foods I sampled, all were pretty good. Even my cousin cooked well. I think was the first to get me to try sushi.. well, the herring at least. From what I've seen at Airports for sushi stalls, they aren't all that great. But my guess is there are probably a few gems here and there. -- Dan |

Actually pretty good. I however advise going down the corridor away from the casino and there is a little food shop on your right about 100m down that has wonderful Iranian Caviar for carrying onto the airplane. Bit of crackers and caviar, the only way to fly. The flight attendants on KLM will chill multiple bottles of vodka for you but the cranky old biddies on Northworst just bring you a glass of ice and ONE mini bottle. |
