Another AYCE sushi place.

Had lunch at Gah-rham 5027 Garrett Avenue, Beltsville, Maryland 20705.
It's a Korean restaurent with AYCE lunch on weekdays.

It's a second rate fair compared to the 2 sushi places I tried in
Richmond, BC. The choices are limited. Around half dozen Korean main
dishes, a few side dishes, miso soup, and sushi bar. They had tuna,
salmon, whitefish nigiri and several different rolls including salmon
skin. They were out of eel. US$8.39 plus tip.

Sushi are fresh made but were poorly shaped as if by a novice. Fish
quality is, well I ate it.

I would go back again because I felt I got what I paid for.

I would not go back to Seven Seas in College Park, MD because it's a
scam. They have one plate of sushi and if you're not the first few on
line you basically don't get any without spending 2 hours there.

The other place in Maryland I don't bother with is Sushi Chalet
because they use too much rice with too little fish, and they stare at
you each time you go for seconds. If you cannot taste the fish you
might as well just eat plain rice.

Not AYCE but I just tried OSAKA at 8855 Greenbelt Road in Greenbelt MD.
They have a happy hour special where you can get a limited choice of
nigiri at about 50% off.

I tried hamachi $1.35 a piece vs 2 for $4.50 regular, eel at $1.25 a
piece vs regular 2 for $4.75, and salmon at $1.30 a piece vs regular 2
for $4.25.

Compare to the AYCE place the rice is about half the size and the fish
pieces are 2 to 4 times larger. Tastewise I was not impressed. Seemed
tasteless to me.

Several years ago there was a place Ben-Kay is Washington, DC. Their
hamachi nigiri tasted wonderful whereas their hamachi sashimi was
tasteless to me. I guess they made hamachi nigiri to my liking.
Haven't had any I really like any where else. Too bad they folded.

Although you get your money's worth in fish at Osaka, it did not tickle
my tastebuds. I like a second opinion if available.
