Default Hawaiian 'Sushi' comes to NYC

I was down by south Street Seaport today and say a new takeout place- L&L
Hawaiian Barbeque. From their promotional literature, it seems they're
considered to be one of the best restaurant chains in the Islands. One of
the items on the menu is misubi- Hawaiian-style sushi. I had the Spam
misubi, which consisted of two very large beds of rice with teriyaki suace
on the top of each, and then pieces of Spam. Each piece was wrapped by wide
pieces of nori.

Did it taste like sushi? Kinda. Was it good? It depends on how much you love
Spam. It thought it was interesting, but I wouldn't rush to have it again.

I don't think we have any Hawaiian restaurant around Boston. For that
matter, I don't think we have many Hawaiians.

Let's be aware that Musubi aka Onigiri is not sushi.
It does not use sushi rice.
It's merely the Japanese version of a sandwich; rice to go.

It is well stocked. It's a good place for getting your
groceries and a bite to eat, either from the store or from
their sushi stall down in the rest of the mall area.

I go there once in a while and get the special items I need
for sushi and such. I wish they had a list of sushi items they
carry, as I was informed that they carry ankimo now. Who knew.
