Sushi (alt.food.sushi) For talking sushi. (Sashimi, wasabi, miso soup, and other elements of the sushi experience are valid topics.) Sushi is a broad topic; discussions range from preparation to methods of eating to favorite kinds to good restaurants. |

If you are referring to the wooden tray with legs, its is call a geta. Here is a site with many sizes. http://www.ekitron.com/products/Sushi_Utensils-Sushi_Geta_(Tray)-EK_94027-T-Japanese_Wooden_Sushi_Geta_Tray_10_3%5E4%5E__X_7_% 5E_X__1%5E.asp If you are referring to the box lunch tray (sometimes served with sushi in it), that is a Bento Box or Obento. The above site shows both, and has now made it into my bookmarked pages. -- Dan |

I wonder how they ever came up with the geta since it looks like a miniature chopping block even it is also aesthetically pleasing? James Silverton. |

Called geta because they look like the classical wooden platform shoe worn
to keep your tabi and feet out of the mud.
