Default when did salmon and tuna become common in Japan

Thanks, Musashi - that makes sense.
I appreciate that salmon isn't traditional, but is it not now a
standard in Japanese sushi and sashimi selections - nearly as much so
as in the West?(Personally I find farmed salmon pretty gross...).
When did salmon become commonly used in Japan? And salmon eggs? And
where's it sourced from?
