Received my order of 80's Formosa Bao Zhong yesterday.
Oh my - what a wonderful tea that is - never ventured into Taiwan before, but yeesh, absolutely delightful. Huge sweet/floral aroma on opening the packet. A nice dark (but clear) amber broth and the taste ! - loads of words come to mind, sweet, floral, caramel. Full bodied but delicate (if that makes any sense) with an ever so slight bitterness in the middle of the tongue. By the third or 4th brew it softened into a more mellow floral tone but the taste lingered. Got to the 8th brew this afternoon at work and still the tea was still going well. Floral notes in taste softened noticeably now but taste still sweet. Used gaiwan so far, but can't wait to brew using my pot - looking forward to that tomorrow. So yes, first impressions were really satisfying. -- Cheers Mal Oz http://maloz.bigblog.com.au/index.do |
