Default Uptons or Culinary tea?

Hi,

I usually buy my tea through Special Teas, (and previously--Adagio), but I
would like to try some teas not available through that company. I like
black teas for the most part and am considering several breakfast blends and
a Keemun. My last batch of Earl Grey and Special Grade Keemun faded to
stale rather quickly for 4 oz bags. In fact the broken leaf Keemun wasn't
as powerful as the first bag I bought. I would like to know if anyone has
experience with Culinary Teas? There are some breakfast or traditional
blend samplers I'd like to try along with the Keemun Panda #1 and the Lady
Londerry or Prince of Wales. I'm particularly interested in trying the
Scottish Breakfast and the Canadian Breakfast--they're included in the
sampler I may order. The last time I had a Lady Londonderry was 8 years ago
and it was only available from Jackson's Of Piccadilly. So if anyone has
tried it from Culinary Teas, I would like your feedback. I'm going to buy
my tea in tins this time in an attempt to keep them fresher longer--taking
into consideration that the stock is fresh to begin with.

I've heard that Uptons is reliable. However, their sampler of blended teas
wasn't as tempting and more expensive. I realize that Culinary Teas is a
smaller company so I'm concerned about the tea being fresh. If you have any
feedback on this, please let me know!

Thanks,

Renee

Sorry I can't give you feedback on Culinary, but wanted to tell you if you
like Keemuns that Upton has an absolutely terrific Keemun they call
China Keemun Mao Feng, ZK98, at a reasonable price of around $35
a pound even in small quantity.

I'm drinking a Keemun Hao Y at the moment, which I had bought a year and a
half ago. It is as good or better than it was. Keemun is said to age
gracefully. I'm getting that rich cocoa aroma and taste I love in a Keemun.
I wonder if that quality increases with the age of the tea. Nice to have a
tea that improves with age.

Yes, I order from Culinary Teas that which I don't get from Upton and the
friend who referred me there orders their Russian Caravan. Why don't you get
samples of the teas in which you're interested to verify that the quality is
up to your standard? They come in heat-sealed ziplock bags - very handy.

Correction, should read: They come in ziplock bags (etc.).

Looking at one of my old sample bags, it didn't appear as though I had torn
or cut the top off above the ziplock.
