I thought this letter in response to a news article in the Hamilton
Spectator (Canada) was odd. Railing against the "glorification of tea"? Well maybe railing is a little strong, but still...I thought it was silly. http://www.hamiltonspectator.com/NAS...=1137193813622 Melinda -- "I know. You know I know. I know you know I know. Railing against the "glorification of tea"? .... ><http://www.hamiltonspectator.com/NAS...agename=hamilt on/Layout/Article_Type1&call_pageid=1014656316146&c=Article& cid=11371938 13622> "Glorification" sounds like exageration to within shouting distance of nonsense. Reminds me a little of a subject in Alice's talk with Humpty Dumpty: .....'But "Glory" doesn't mean "A nice knockdown argument",' Alice objected. `When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.' `The question is,' said Alice, `whether you can make words mean so many different things.' `The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, `which is to be master -- that's all.' |
