I understand that this topic might cause some discomfort or leave a
"bad taste" among Pu-Erh lovers (like myself) but I really like to share some ideas and information here that might lead to some insight and/or clarification. After lengthy discussions on rfdt and elsewhere on all sorts of possible species of Pu-Erh "kin", namely different strains of fungi, especially those of the Aspergillus family I´m a bit concerned as to the general possibilities of Pu-Erh teas containing aflatoxins, one of the strongest carcinogens known to man. Just two arbitrary links, millions more on google ... http://www.ansci.cornell.edu/plants/...aflatoxin.html http://monographs.iarc.fr/htdocs/mon...l82/82-04.html Any information, thoughts, actual test results highly appreciated. If you don't wash the leaves and peel the first layer or so.
