I was in LA last week, and made a point to stop in to Wing Hop Fung in
Chinatown on Jason's recommendation. A wonderful experience - they must have at least 40-50 different teas, mostly Chinese. I got a Dancong oolong and a nice jade TGY. Best part: they have (in my case) a lovely young lady who makes a small pot of any tea to taste! I could have spent all afternoon there, but my family keeps me on a fairly short leash when it comes to tea shops <g>. She also let me taste a shu puerh: wet cardboard and dirt - I don't think I'll EVER develop a taste for this stuff. Jason, a big "thanks" for mentioning this place! Dean |

Like all tea, you can get bad shu.
![]() There are some lovely shu pu'er out there! I'm sure many of the readers here have some recommendations. My immediate favourite of the last few weeks is the 2002 Yunnan Tea Institute - raisins and currants, rather than dirt and ashes. Don't give up on the shu! Toodlepip, Hobbes |

I shudder to think of how short the leash would be with 16 lovelies! Thanks for thinking of me, though. Dean |
