Vegan (alt.food.vegan) This newsgroup exists to share ideas and issues of concern among vegans. We are always happy to share our recipes- perhaps especially with omnivores who are simply curious- or even better, accomodating a vegan guest for a meal! |

Pure scientific rubbish.
Humans and those proceeding them in evolution have been eating to great advantage meat for about 2 million years. The evolution in digestion and metabolism to eat just about anything has led to humans being able to occupy all places on the globe. Some scholars think adding meat to their diet led to the evolution of the larger brains that make humans as we know them. Eskimos who eat almost all meat in their traditional diet because of living in the artic were in very good health. |

Would a defective gene possibly be responsible, rather than the diet? Samoans, who eat a lot more meat and fish than the average westerner, did pretty well until they began stuffing themselves with sugar-laden western snacks and beverages. |
