Vegan (alt.food.vegan) This newsgroup exists to share ideas and issues of concern among vegans. We are always happy to share our recipes- perhaps especially with omnivores who are simply curious- or even better, accomodating a vegan guest for a meal! |

![]() Not by itself. Compare the west with high meat to india. India has the world's highest rate of diabetes. It can be hardly said that meat intake is a significant factor in that natural experiment. Carbohydrates become a problem with diabetes and india is a very high consumer of them in rice and bread and other such common foods. Increased use of veggie derived oils is also implicated. S. india has a higher rate then n. india. It is over consumption with obesity and lower activity that are the common features the world over. No less in india. In india in areas with low intake and low weight and high activity the rate is as low as anywhere. |
