Hear Dale ? give a 14 minute lecture on pairing of food and wine taken
from the FAQs he wrote on this subject at http://www.cwdjr.info/wine/williams.php . :-) You will need a recent Real Player to hear this. It should work on a good dialup connection. |

Are you really Dale in disguise? Coining Dale's own vocabulary, should we now accuse you of stealth marketing for him? What does "cwdjrxyz" really mean, anyway? I think you missed out on a few vowels... David |

Hint: The speaker might be a grandson of R2U2. That family is sneaky, and all have a strange accent. It is rumored that some members of this family have been seen sneaking around IBM in the US and the Opera in Sweden. The speaker could be angry with Dale because Dale can have good wine, and the speaker can have none, because it could cause him serious problems if taken internally. |

Hmm, I think I need to work on my pronunciation - I only listened to
first couple minutes, and I already blew Muscadet and Merlot. And Cwdjrxyz, can C3PO inject a slight Southern accent to more accurately reflect? Seriously, this is pretty funny, but I'm personally old fashioned enough to prefer to read my info. I have friends that love Gary V's videos on Wine Library site, but I still prefer reading. cwdjrxyz wrote: > Hear Dale ? give a 14 minute lecture on pairing of food and wine taken > from the FAQs he wrote on this subject at > http://www.cwdjr.info/wine/williams.php . :-) You will need a recent > Real Player to hear this. Dale, this is what you hear on the Opera browser when you select voice playback with an added Opera extension on the browser. This likely is very close to what the blind would hear when they use their special equipment to have a web page spoken rather than read. I believe you can also select a female voice and perhaps that of a child. I just recorded the voice output from Opera to the Real Audio format and put it up to demonstrate how voice output of a page works. I believe much of the early work in this area was done at IBM. As you can hear, translation of the written page to voice is not perfect and still sounds a bit mechanical. However, for a blind person, this is a small price to pay to be able to know what is on a web page. There likely are special devices that will print(punch?) out Braille, but I have not investigated this. Of course the ideal way is for an author or good reader to make an audio recording of the text, and indeed there are many talking books available for the blind. However, because of bandwidth considerations, audio versions of web pages are not often made. |
