My wife & I are looking for a nice dry Champagne in the $10/bottle range for
our wedding ceremony. Any suggestions? Thanks Dan |

Congratulations!
As Ken says, for $10 there are no Champagnes. But lots of good Proseccos, some good Cavas, a few Loire bubblies, and some good CA bubblies. And one good NM bubbly, Gruet. If you can, why not locate a few to sample and decide what you like? Dan wrote: > My wife & I are looking for a nice dry Champagne in the $10/bottle range for > our wedding ceremony. Thanks for the reply. Can you suggest a minimally priced Champagne? How
much does one have to spend to get something reasonably decent? Also, what are good examples of the others you mention. CA would be fine. I realize this is subject, I'm looking for opinions to start with. Dan "DaleW" > wrote in message oups.com... > Congratulations! > As Ken says, for $10 there are no Champagnes. ![]() Ken is right of course; Champagne only comes from the Champagne region of France. I think he was a bit harsh with you in his reply. There are many sparkling wines that would meet your needs among them are Cordon Negro from Spain, Domain Ste. Michelle from Washington State(they make at least three. Brut, Blanc de Blanc- white wine from white grapes and a Blanc de Noir - A white wine made from black grapes. It has a slight Salmon color) , Bouvet from France, Rotari from Italy just to name a few. I think the best values from those I listed is the Ste. Michelle wines. Good luck. I'm sure they'd fool me ;-) Can you suggest any particular examples?
BTW the $10 isn't a rigid limit. I found this Champange listed on the "Wine Spectator top 100, the list says NV so apparently it's made in Nevada (that's a joke ;-) http://www.bestofneworleans.com/disp...ineofweek.html Thanks! I didn't mean to be harsh, just to point out the realities of the marketplace, and to suggest that he consider a different sparkling wine if his budget was $10. -- Ken Blake Please reply to the newsgroup > There are many sparkling wines that would meet your needs among them > are Cordon Negro from Spain, Domain Ste. For 25-30 you can find Champagne in large discount stores. some are obviously going to be better than others. there are so many options that one really needs to know the exact market area that you are in to push you in the right direction with brands. -- Joseph Coulter Cruises and Vacations http://www.josephcoulter.com/ |

Dan,
if you want to try a Cava, there is a small artisanal producer called Sergi Colet that makes a wonderful Colet A Priori (available at Astor Wines in NYC according to WineSearcher.com) for $14,99 (5% off if you buy by the case). Best, S. |

(In those days, the bride's parents footed all the bills). Well, everyone enjoyed it and knocked back large amounts so that the wine bill was MUCH larger than if they had bought the real stuff.
