Last night was dinner with Bobby Flay and Rachel Ray. After returning
home from a rigorous day pretending to work and reading countless newgroup posts, I was feeling somewhat in the mood for Italian. Antipasto: steamed organic broccoli with a kiss of grated organic pecorino romano. primo: 3/4 cup (dry) organic whole wheat fusili pasta, boiled with a pinch of grey salt. Mixed with sliced organic cherry tomatoes and a puree of sauteed garlic, rosemary infused organic olive oil, organic flat leaf parsley, and 1/4 cup grated pecorino; pulsed in processor then added to pasta. secondo: two pieces; frozen chicken breast tenderloins. Pan fried & steamed (place cover over top of sautee pan) with olive oil, salt and pepper. Covered with organic no salt added marinara sauce and red chili hot sauce. dolce: thin sliced organic gala apple topped with raspberry jam and waiffer slice of pecorino romano. TN: Purchased bottle at TJ for $2.15 total. Opened during steaming of antipasto. Initial tasting was marbled earth clay with strong alcohol and subtle forest berry. Finish was fruit jam reduction with pebble stone overtones. Overall Experience: A- Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine at $1.99 - $4.99, B a good wine $4.99 - $7.99, C mediocre wine at $7.99 and up. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. |
