Default TN: 2004 Chateau Peychaud Cotes de Bourg

This past Sunday, we had thawed some pre-seasoned sirloins from
Albertson's, being on a much tighter budget than Dale & Betsy
I'm not fond of the seasoning, but the buy 1, get 1 is tough to
avoid, so that's what we had. I seasoned-over the steaks, making them
au poivre and a smattering of olive oil and lemon thyme growing
outside. Some garlic mashers and some asparagus made the meal pretty
darn good, so I opened a bottle of..

2004 Chateau Peychaud Cotes de Bourg. This is something I picked up
for not much money (I cannot remmeber, but am guessing in the $12
range) from either Whole Foods or World Market (Cost Plus). Probably
the latter.
In any case, the wine was pretty good. After it opened up a bit,
there was leather, some light herbacious tones and some (well, a hint
really) of dark cherry, or some other dark fruit. I'm sorry, I have
no notes by me, and my memory is fading.

I remember it being relatively mellow, and that tended to go well with
the episode of Battlestar Galactica that night because there was less
dogfighting and more courtroom drama this past episode.

If the wine is indeed in the $12 range, I'd buy it again. I am always
looking for Bordeaux I can drink on a weeknight and enjoy. My one
complaint is that the the bottle is really heavy. When it was empty,
I thought it was still half-full!!

enjoy,
K

Sounds like a nice meal, thanks for notes. Will keep the Peychaud in
mind, I always love to find decent $12 Bdx too!
