Oops, let this go for a couple months. Will combine March and April,.
This is the monthly posting formerly entitled "QPR Wines for (fill in the month)" . Please post up to 5 wines that you thought were a great value and feel others should look for. 1) I'd encourage each poster to limit themselves to one post of 5 or less value wines per month, to keep things from being dominated by a few. 2) Please just post the wines, with little commentary. This might be hard on verbose people like myself, but might encourage those who might otherwise be hesitant (if 7 people posted before you, each with detailed tasting notes, might not feel as comfortable just posting your wine). Certainly feel free to start a thread of your tasting impressions of any wine(s) and be as verbose as you want! 3) No bashing of others' suggestions. Let's try to be supportive as possible. It's fine to ask questions re wines you're interested in. 4) Please try to be sure that the wines you suggest are reasonably available (wines that you bought 4 years ago, or only available at a winery is less valuable as a monthlyresource) 5) There should be a 2 month limit on posting any wine. This will ensure the list is a bit fresher. Looking forward to everyone's suggestions! |

YPMV Argiolas Perdera Monica di Sardegna $13 Spicy and yummy! http://www.wineloverspage.com/wines/wt090197.htm Sociale Santadi Monica di Sardegna Antigua $13 As above Fourplay (blend of Sicilian grapes) $14 Excellent! http://wineweekly.com/wine-reviews/w...y-from-sicily/ "What matters most is that this wine is an affordable alternative to Chianti Riservas that cost around five to ten dollars more. Ripe black cherry, tar, blackberry, and roasted meat aromas fill the nose, while the palate is dominated by ripe black cherry and a smooth texture. Good acidity and medium tannins hold things together quite nicely, and the wine finishes with a good balance that includes ripe fruit and hints of tobacco and a pleasantly bitter vegetal / earthy component. Because of that touch of bitterness at the end, I suggest you match this with food before trying it alone. It will go well with cheeses and cheesy dishes, pasta in marinara, pizza, sausage, eggplant parm, and blackened white meats." |

Totally agree re the '05 Pierre de la Grange, very fine juice. Never heard of the Mitica, but at that price I'd certainly try! Wow. I tend to like the "regular" Borsao (Grenache/Tempranillo blend) a lot,. |

Cap de Faugères The shop still has a stock of this and it is still drinking well and at ~US$15.90, it's pretty good value. Recent vintages are close to double that. Muscadet 05 Ch. ![]() Domaine de Fontsainte, Reserve la Demoiselle, Corbieres 2004 I think I paid 11.99US nice wine, fruity, no real finish medium body a very nice wine for a weekday evening last minute burger on the grill sort of meal. In fact it was good enough for a reprise any time a lighter red with good acidity is required. maybe not a red sauce wine but . . . |
