Opened this over the weekend. With rare filets. After decanting for one
hour. Tiny amount of bricking noted but still quite dark and dense. Nose of pencil lead and some cedar, bit vegetal some green pepper and even a bit of peas as well on the nose almost a touch of Cab Franc but I don't think this had any Cab Franc in and I can't find any listing for it. Tannins have smoothed nicely, lots of dark fruit and a little spice. Good finish that lingered. Wish I had more. This was my last bottle A- on the Dale scale. Opened a 1994 Dunn Howell Mountain on Sunday and had to let it sit for 2 hours and it was still chewy tannins but the nose was amazing dark fruit, briar, spice and coffee. The finish lingered for 15-20 minutes. This wine still has 10-15 more years left in it. The Clos du Val maybe 5. |

It seems that the Clos du Val's are really showing well right now! |
