[TN] Sancerre, two Riesling, one Gwz

We were studying yesterday - the evening course in the Swedish Society of
Tastevins (entry-level). Subject: Germany and Alsace and a mention of Loire.

SAncerre Raimbault-Pineau 2002
[C] Very light, with green highlights
[N] Flinty mineral, gooseberries, asparagus, mixedf fruit, black currant
leaves, very fresh
[P] Very fresh acidity, dry as a bone, slightly perfumed, complex and very
good persistence.
SEK 139 (EU 15) - This is as good as it gets in Sweden concerning Sancerres.
This one is in my opinon very good, and would benefit from accompaniment
with a light fish dish

Hochheimer Stielweg Franz Künstler 1999
[C] Slightly golden
[N] Jam, melted sugar, pineapple preserve, very slight petroleu and mineral
[P] Melony fruit, bitterness, quite dry, very shy mineral tones and slight,
titillating acidity
Less than satisfying, particularly at the steep price of SEK 229 (EU 25)

Roxheimer Höllenpfad Auslese 1989
[C] Close to previous, i e golden
[N] More mineral, more petroleum but not overpoweringly so. Fruit, mature
yellow apples, and some mint
[P] Sweetness, balanced by young, fresh and delicious acidity
At SEK 137 (EU 15), this was the best QPR of the evening, a wonderful wine
with many long years ahead of it.

Trimbach Gewurztraminer Cuvée de Seigneur de RIbeaupierre 1999
[C] GOlden
[N] Hits you like a fist between the ... not eyes, would have to be
nostrils ... hmmmm ... score zero on metaphors ... but, frankly, this is not
my cup of Gwz. A bit of herbs, something odd, like band-aids and cellotape?
[P] Unbalanced alcohol, sweet, anise
This was a gwz I can safely say I´d rather do without. And particularly at
the whooping price of SEK 253 (EU 28). I have previously tasted other wines
from Trimbach, but never with really great enjoyment - I may have been out
of luck, I know the firm is in good standing (and I have never tasted the
Clos St Hune) but ....

I have set an exchange rate of SEK 9 to the EU, which may not be quite true.

Trimbach is a favorite house of mine, but you need to like a somewhat austere
style. Usually their non-late-harvest stuff is on the far-dry side of the
Alsace spectrum. Although that doesn't sound like the issue here. 1999 was a
somewhat weak, soft, vintage I think. I really liked the '96 & '98 SdR
