Default Vintage wine prices

Hey all-
I was recently offered some wines and I was wondering if the prices
seemed fair. I've looked around a bit and done some comparisons, but
that never seems to reflect the true going rate committed wine lovers
are willing to pay. Frankly, most of these are way out of my range,
but it got me curious.
Let's assume the wines have been kept in good cellaring conditions:
(prices are all in US dollars)
1. 1961 Palmer Margaux: $2600.00
2. 1966 Lafleur Pomerol $1900.00
3. 1995 Lafleur Pomerol $500.00
4. 1997 Lafite-Rothschild Paulliac $199.00

A lot of the price depends on seller and provenance. For more recent vintage,
if this is a private seller, I'd discount compared to what I'd pay a retailer.
The '97 Lafite (only one remotely in my range) is certainly widely available
for less than $200.

For the others, just use winesearcher.com. And under no circumstances wire
money to DC!

No, there's a person in Washington DC who posted an incredible - I do mean
straining credibility- list of wines for sale from "his father's estate" on
some wine boards. Wanted money wired first. Now, this list (thousands of
bottles, heavy on the 1945 Cheval Blanc, the '61 Latour, DRC,. Dugat, etc )
would equal the greatest collections in the world. Then someone noticed that
some of the wines haven't been released yet!

I think winesearcher.pro is a good deal - one good score pays for the year.
