According to the September issue of Decanter, Penfolds is selling
Block 42 Kalimna Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 for 100,000 Pounds per hand- blown glass ampoule. There are only 12 ampoules available, and each is packed in a case of rare Australian wood. The capacity of the ampoule is not specified. If you buy an ampoule, Penfolds promises to send their chief winemaker to assist when you decide to open it. It may be that this wine will sell as a status symbol. Likely buyers are winners of lotteries, very rich Asians, and drug or other gang lords. If the capacity of the ampoules is no more than a few bottles, it makes Romanee Conti from a fairly recent year seem cheap on comparison. |

See http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/20...xpensive-wine/ . An ampoule contains only 1 standard bottle of this wine. Also there is a bit more information. |
