TN: Bruising Breca, boring Adam, non-boring Bouree
Sunday Betsy had 2 concerts, it was 8:45 before she got home. I'd make a Chilean styled pork, corn, and tomato dish, served along with quinoa and an Asian styled slaw. Had no Chilean wine,
but at least went Spanish language, with the 2012 Breca (Calatayud). Ripe jammy, not my style, kirsch and cassis. Whoa, 15.5%. C+
Monday I made a Trinidadian chickpea/potato curry and Indian styled Broccoli, served with leftover slaw and the 2009 A.J. Adam Dhroner Riesling. Modest sugars, modest acids, a bit dull and ponderous. Pretty unexciting. David said this is an awkward time for 2009s, maybe true. For me, now, C+/B-
Tuesday was nice evening to eat outside again, I made grilled teriyaki salmon, brown rice with fresh shiso, kale, squash, and salad. Wine was the 1996 Bouree Chambolle-Musigny. Drinking nicely, some '96 acids but tannins resolved, black cherry accented with sandalwood., Not profound but nice Tuesday night Burg. B/B+
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
