Thursday was no wine (salmon and leftovers for dnner), Frday I steamed a couple of lobsters. Served over a rice/quinoa/spinach salad, with grilled fennel on the side, and with the 2004 Jadot (Duc de Magenta) €śClos de la Garenne€ť Puligny-Montrachet 1er. I had a backup bottle on hand - Jadot doesnt have best record on premOx, I had thought I had drunk this a while back, recently discovered still had one. But when I opened it poured with a nice light color, and a fresh nose. So then I carried the dishes out to patio, and poured for Betsy. Hmmm, color seems a bit darker, and now there is just a hint of oxidative notes. I wondered if Id need to fetch the backup. But the oxidative notes stayed just a hint, this seems mature but not truly advanced. Pears, citrus zest, honeysuckle. Good length, some stony notes on finish. I quite liked, but would have preferred not spending quite as much time worrying about the pox.

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
