Default California wine prices

Found a $25 Cab at the wine store, was dreadful. I've been sticking to
under $30 wines, just to be frugal....No problem finding decent AU,
French, German, Italian wines, except for exotics, viz., eiswein. What
is the deal here, the CA cabs and blends seem so
expensive...Recommendations, links, etc.?

Alexander Valley Cabernet 2000
DeLoach Cabernet 2001

Both are under $20.00 and I think show nicely.

Don't assume that because you didn't like this particular $25
Cabernet that all California Cabernets at a similar price will be
the same. I think there are lots of good choices in that price
range.
