Default 1998 Talbot - any good?

I recently acquired a magnum of '98 Ch. Talbot, along with some other
odds-and-ends at a winecommune.com auction. I know nothing about this wine,
but that 1998 was a reasonably good year, generally, for Bordeaux.

Any comment on this Talbot? Drink, hold, wash my dog in it?

Thanks,

Bob

Here is what the Wine Spectator said about it in 2001.
"Aromas of red fruit, meat, earth and cabbage. Medium-bodied, with light
tannins and a light finish. Very short. Not as good as from barrel. Best
after 2003. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 25,000 cases made. (JS)" It
gave it a score of 81.

Thanks for the info. Aromas of meat and cabbage do not sound promising,
unless it's St. Patrick's Day dinner. Sounds like a pour for my poker
buddies.
