Default A big bowl of pasta

and a glass of red wine has to be my favorite pastime. I love it that red
wine is actually heart healthy. Now for the pasta. Is there a pasta out
there that adds more nutrition to my meal?

If you are in the US you can easily find whole wheat pastas in supermarkets.
Certainly anywhere on the East Coast and West Coast and cities like Detroit,
Chicago or St Louis. Also try specialty Italian stores--we're not talking
Domino here, I'm suggesting locally owned shops that sell Italian meats,
sauces & pasta. If you live in the South or Midwest you may be SOL as Pasta
to most of those markets comes from Chef Boyardee, or Mueller's Noodles and
you add ketchup for your marinara & velvets for the parmesan.(smile)

I checked this out a few years ago. In terms of nutrional value, whole
wheat pasta adds more fiber to your diet than regular white pasta. But
I couldn't find one I liked near as much as even American Beauty, let
alone a nice fresh white pasta.

As others have pointed out, whole wheat pasta is certainly more healthful to
eat than white. Spinach pasta is probably somewhere in between.

Don't overlook the sauce! Red sauces supposedly help prevent prostate
cancer. Garlic, onions and olive oil are also very heart healthy foods.

Probably a good idea to cut the cheese though (in a manner of speaking
;^D).

Barilla is marketing (at least in PA) a pasta that contains, among other
items bean and flax flours. It's not bad, and it contains a lot more of
what's good for you than plain 'ol white. Comes in a yellow box, as I
recall.
