Do the better ones get the respect they deserve? Some of them are
fantasic, really full bodied, "chewy" highly structured wine with all kinds of nuance. Yet I sense they never seem to get much press, except for the occasional story about the varietals original roots back in Italy. |

I think the cult Zins, Turley, Rosenblum, Ridge, and I would throw in
Seghesio receive more respect. Their Zins are outstanding, Rosenbulm's 2003 Rockpile Road being a favorite of mine. I think the everyday drinking Zins like Rancho Zabaco Dancing Bull or Ravenswood Vintners Blend do no get their respect as decent wines at a decent price. Just my opinion as a Zin lover. Yeah, I agree on the lower end value full bodied zins. Cult zins is a good way to describe those higher end zins, which is what I'm thinking of regarding respect from the industry. |
