Default spigot w/ sieve for plastic primary

Recently purchased a 350L plastic tub for primary fermentation.
Spigots with a sieve attachment are available to install on these. Has
anyone used these? Do they leak? Could be great if it works, but I'm
reluctant to drill a hole in the tub. Your comments are appreciated.
Thanks,
RD

I have 4 primary tanks that started as polyethylene (food grade) tanks. I
cut holes in the bottom of each and fitted them with bulkheads and nolyon
strainers inside. Outside I attaced a ball valve for draining. Works
great!

Interesting, Aaron. How did you seal the opening where the ball valve
attaches to the plastic? rubber gaskets? Thanks for suggestion.

All of the rubber gaskets are make of FDA materials. I had to purchase a
special gasket (square-ring) for the bulkhead fitting (bulkhead is threaded
on inside and outside). The ball valve is connected to the bulkhead via a
short nipple threaded on each end. If you're interested, I can try to put
together a list of the parts and sources.

My project this year is to add temperature control. My problem isn't too
much heat, it's not enough. I have my fermentors in the basement and temps
don't get much over 70 or so, definitely too cool for the kind of reds I
want to make. I purchased a 4-loop temp controller on Ebay and put together
a power switching box. I am going to use the sheet-type heaters on the
outside of the tanks covered with insulation. Battling pneumonia for the
last few weeks so I haven't made much progress. Once I mend up we'll see
how it goes!

CHEERS!
