What makes this funny is that alcohol is a designer drug.

I've looked into this and found that Professor David Nutt
is one of the leading researchers in the field of panic
attacks. He may be a Nutt, but he is not a quack.

Interestingly the drugs mentioned in the article (bretazenil
and pagoclone) do not appear to be commercially available in
the US.

Whatever they do produce will be similar to Star Trek's
Synthehol and that means we will soon learn if Ferengis do
exist because they will be here to collect royalties on their
Universe Patent.

Exactly what are you using for your definition of "designer drug"?

Alcohol is certianly a drug, but it's not been designed by anyone
(barring possibly God or Bacchus).

Maybe I should have written "Alcoholic beverages are designer drugs".

Alas one designs alcohol beverages by the ingredients in the mash,
must, or wort, the filtering process, the aging process, and many
other things. But let us thank the deity to whom we pray that it
works.

I just hope we don't have to thank Quark for Synthanol.
